There is always a need to glamorize a blog with pictures to put an emphasis on the content that is shared. Or it is mainly used for creativity and making a blog stand out. However, it is imperative to make sure that the photos that we use can be reshared on our posts. For example, the image of the flowers above taken by Martin Höst, is an example of a photo that can be reused. This photo was found through Creative Commons, which is a website that allows for creative works to be available for others to build upon legally and to share. Creative Commons (CC) have creative content from individuals throughout the world, which can consist of videos, images, and music. One is able to search for reusable content through the CC Search Portal, which will lead them to CC-licensed and public domain content through other organizations such as Google, Flikr, Vimeo, and YouTube. This website is an efficient tool to consider when utilizing images, music, or videos etc., for websites, blogs, and much more.

Choosing a Photo

Since you have an understanding of CC and how beneficial it is to use their tool, now you have to consider what photo to choose. Choosing a photo should be contingent on how you would like to use it. Therefore it is important to always check the CC Licensed that a photo has. For example, with the image “Flowers” by Martin Höst, it is licensed under CC BY 2.0. This license falls under attribution, meaning that I must give credit to the photographer, provide a link to the license, and indicate if any changes were made. Additionally, I am able to share and adapt this photo by any means, even commercially.
